Football Game Preview: McHenry Warriors vs. Central Rockets

The McHenry Warriors will square off against the Central Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McHenry has given up an average of 27 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

McHenry is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They lost 43-22 to Prairie Ridge. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Wolves are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They claimed a resounding 45-14 win over Hampshire. The Rockets have beaten the Whip-Purs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Whip-Purs has come to flipping the script.

McHenry now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

McHenry couldn't quite get it done against Central when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 24-14. Thankfully for the Warriors, Jackson Alcorn (who threw for 259 yards and three TDs while completing 84.2% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
