Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Maynard's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Maynard ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Clinton Gaels, sneaking past 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jillian Macfarlane spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ryleigh Raschi was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Maynard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Coming up, Maynard is taking a road trip to take on Murdock at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clinton, they will welcome Tantasqua Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Gaels surely won't give up without a fight.
