Baseball Recap: Desert Christian Victorious

Desert Christian came out on top against Faith Baptist on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Knights walked away with a 9-5 win over the Contenders. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Contenders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Jason Main was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Desert Christian let Blake Jones and Logan Mount run wild. Jones went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Mount went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Jones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Bakewell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Desert Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Desert Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-6-2. As for Faith Baptist, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Desert Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Contenders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
