Baseball Recap: Ellicott Takes a Loss

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Ellicott nor St. Mary made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Thunderhawks took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderhawks in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost nine in a row.

Ellicott saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marco Guerrero Mancilla, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Guerrero Mancilla is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Julian Martinez Diaz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Ellicott's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for St. Mary's, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Pirates beat Ellicott by a score of 13-0 later that day.
