Basketball Recap: Warren Takes a Loss

Warren was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 66-47 bruising from the Orangefield Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1476th, while the Bobcats are ranked 429th).

Despite the defeat, Warren saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tyler Flebbe posted 17 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 36.2% of Warren's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Parker Brocato, who put up eight points along with six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Warren was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Orangefield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Scales, who went 7 for 11 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Rogers, who earned nine points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Warren's loss dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Orangefield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Warren has already played their next game, an 83-39 defeat against East Chambers on the 24th. As for Orangefield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-31 victory against Kirbyville on the 24th.
