Baseball Game Preview: Regis Rams vs. Santiam Wolverines

Regis is 9-1 against Santiam since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rams will host the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. Regis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Regis is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Crosshill Christian just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this contest were averaging 3.94 runs allowed.

Jake Bohnke was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Owen Eaton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Santiam and Central Linn, and Central Linn kept the tradition alive. The Wolverines fell 4-1 to the Cobras on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wolverines couldn't push the score so high this time.

Santiam's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Regis, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Regis took their win against Santiam in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-4 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
