Baseball Recap: Grayson County Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Grayson County won against Hopkins County Central last Friday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Trinity Raiders. That looming 17-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Levi Rogers made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Grayson County got a massive performance out of Garrett Bradley, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Bradley has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Landon Haycraft was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.

Grayson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity only posted an OBP of .423.

Grayson County's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-8. As for Trinity, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Grayson County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
