Basketball Recap: Wilkinson County Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wilkinson County can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Pelahatchie Chiefs and fell 98-33. The Wildcats lost against the Chiefs in their previous head to head back in December of 2018, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 65-58 score last time.

Wilkinson County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darien Tolliver, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of JaNorris Anthony, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Wilkinson County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Wilkinson County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Pelahatchie, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 25-2.

Wilkinson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pelahatchie, they will square off against Newton at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Pelahatchie's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matches.
