Basketball Recap: Makenzie Todd's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gering over Scottsbluff

If Gering was feeling good fresh off their 70-43 takedown of North Platte last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gering Bulldogs took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scottsbluff Bearcats on Monday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bearcats earlier this season, when they won 49-39.

Gering's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenzie Todd, who to rack up 19 points and four steals. The game was Todd's third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jacey Cochran, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Gering's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Scottsbluff, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Gering does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Scottsbluff, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-48 defeat against Sidney on the 25th.
