Baseball Recap: Columbus Drops Season-High Score on Omaha Northwest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbus). They put the hurt on the Omaha Northwest Huskies with a sharp 15-1 win on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Discoverers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Dayton Snyder looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Columbus' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 10-14 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Quenton Gustafson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Columbus: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Connor Cameron, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Columbus' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-15. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Omaha Northwest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Columbus nor Omaha Northwest have any future games scheduled.
