Basketball Recap: Caleb Mcdougald's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central Gwinnett over Buford

Central Gwinnett lost against Buford back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Central Gwinnett Black Knights fell 63-51 to the Buford Wolves. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Wolves are ranked 20th).

Central Gwinnett's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Mcdougald, who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Mcdougald is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Denovian Flowers, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Central Gwinnett's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Buford, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.

Central Gwinnett has already played their next contest, a 59-54 loss against Collins Hill on the 29th. As for Buford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-47 win against Mill Creek on the 29th.
