Softball Recap: Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings vs. Stillman Valley Cardinals
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bradley-Bourbonnais, Homewood-Flossmoor was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Stillman Valley Cardinals.
Becky Urbaniak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (she also only allowed one walk). Urbaniak was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Ana Weber was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Julz Panozzo was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
Homewood-Flossmoor has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Stillman Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Homewood-Flossmoor will head out on the road to face off against Andrew at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrew will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Homewood-Flossmoor surely won't give up without a fight. Stillman Valley will take on North Boone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
