Softball Game Preview: Newman Smith Trojans vs. Turner Lions

The Newman Smith Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Turner Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Newman Smith comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Newman Smith's offense. They lost 17-0 to Lone Star on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Turner was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against The Colony, falling 12-2. The Lions have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

Turner saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Serrano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Vivian Lewis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Newman Smith's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Turner, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 6-2.

Newman Smith suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Turner when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Newman Smith avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
