It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Alton had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Quincy Blue Devils 65-40. The Redbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Quincy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Brown, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Myley Longcor, who posted 11 points.
The win (which was Alton's sixth in a row) raised their record to 30-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.5 points. As for Quincy, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-11.
Coming up, Alton will be playing in front of their home fans against O'Fallon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Fallon will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Alton surely won't give up without a fight. Quincy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
