For the first time this season, Heritage Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to challenge the Village Christian Crusaders at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage Christian has four straight victories, Village Christian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Heritage Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Taft 16-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Mireles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erika Laufer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Tatum Tassio was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Heritage Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taft only posted a batting average of .176.
Meanwhile, Village Christian lost 17-2 to Whittier Christian on Tuesday.
Village Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gaby Robel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Village Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Heritage Christian, their record is now 8-1.
Village Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Heritage Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .533. It's a different story for Village Christian, though, as they've only averaged .340. Will they be able to contain Heritage Christian's hitters?
Heritage Christian suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Village Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Heritage Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
