Softball Recap: Soddy Daisy Sets Scoring Season-High Against East Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Soddy Daisy). They never let the East Ridge Pioneers get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won seven in a row.

Lilyana Blaylock made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Blaylock was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skylar Gooden, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Kahlen Sexton was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Soddy Daisy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. The last time their OBP was this high was in their last seven matches.

Soddy Daisy pushed their record up to 10-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Ridge, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coincidentally, Soddy Daisy and East Ridge will both be playing Hixson the next time they take the field. Soddy Daisy will host Hixson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while East Ridge will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
