Softball Game Preview: Frankenmuth Eagles vs. Lakeville Falcons

Frankenmuth is 8-0-1 against Lakeville since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will host the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Frankenmuth sitting on four straight wins and Lakeville on five.

Frankenmuth's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Swan Valley. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Chloe Compau made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miranda Polley was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Mady Goodwin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Frankenmuth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swan Valley only managed one hit.

Meanwhile, Lakeville put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Bay City Western.

Lakeville pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Frankenmuth, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Frankenmuth beat Lakeville 7-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
