Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sparta). Everything went their way against the Kenowa Hills Knights on Thursday as they made off with a 27-2 win. Considering the Spartans have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Taliya Dauser made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alaysia Hammock, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, six RBI, and two doubles. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Jurnee Ross was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Sparta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenowa Hills only posted a batting average of .125.
