Basketball Recap: John Bartram Takes a Loss

John Bartram was the 58-40 winner over Simon Gratz when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The John Bartram Braves took a hard 62-47 fall against the Simon Gratz Bulldogs on Thursday.

Defeat or not, John Bartram got some senior leadership from Joseph Mccutchen and Dajuan Peak. Mccutchen posted 17 points, while Peak had 16 points. Mccutchen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played.

Simon Gratz's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rakim Johnson led the charge by putting up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sihaaj Johnson, who earned 16 points.

John Bartram's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Simon Gratz, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

John Bartram has already played their next matchup, a 51-45 victory against Belmont Charter on the 20th. As for Simon Gratz, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-32 defeat against Glasgow on the 18th.
