Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders vs. St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings

The Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders will venture away from home to challenge the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop Stepinac's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Archbishop Stepinac's win against Salesian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Crusaders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Eagles 6-4. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea entered their tilt with All Hallows on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gaels a 5-0 shutout.

Not much got past Anthony Abruzese, who gave up just two hits to keep All Hallows off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony DePetro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Marchese, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Archbishop Stepinac pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
