Recap: Cornerstone Christian Academy Warriors vs. Yavneh Academy Bulldogs
The Cornerstone Christian Academy Warriors came tearing into Thursday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Yavneh Academy as Cornerstone Christian Academy made off with a 45-22 victory. Cornerstone Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Jasmine Nordstrom, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Genna Welch was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Yavneh Academy still got an impressive performance from Daniela Hargrove, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. Hargrove has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Cornerstone Christian Academy pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Yavneh Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
Cornerstone Christian Academy will challenge Bishop Gorman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Bishop Gorman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Saturday. As for Yavneh Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Dallas Adventist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Dallas Adventist Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
