Soccer Game Preview: Cleburne vs. Centennial

The Cleburne Yellowjackets will challenge the Centennial Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cleburne's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Cleburne's offense. They lost 7-0 to Emerson on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Mavericks are ranked 111th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centennial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Eastern Hills onto the board and left with a 2-0 win on Friday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Spartans were the better team in the second half.

Angel Avalos and Andy Saenz scored both of Centennial's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

The victory got Centennial back to even at 3-3-1. As for Cleburne, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3-3.
