Softball Recap: Monessen Drops Highest Score of Season Against Ellis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monessen). They put the hurt on Ellis with a sharp 23-7 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Greyhounds considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Lillie Mackey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those hits were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayvionna Minnie, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Monessen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Monessen's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Ellis, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Monessen will challenge Serra Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ellis, they will take on Leechburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
