Basketball Recap: Thief River Falls Takes a Loss

Thief River Falls was the 72-66 winner over Mahnomen/Waubun when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Prowlers took an 85-69 bruising from the Thunderbirds on Thursday. While the Prowlers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Thunderbirds 44-38 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Thief River Falls still got an impressive performance from Bridger Wilcox, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards. Wilcox is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Nelson, who went 7-for-12 en route to 18 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Thief River Falls and nudges their season record down to 14-11. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Thief River Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 89-71 loss against Bemidji on the 27th. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, they have also already played their next contest, an 86-57 win against Blackduck on the 5th.
