Baseball Game Preview: Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans vs. Astoria/VIT Rebels

The Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans will face off against the Astoria/VIT Rebels at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Tuesday, Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia came up short against Beardstown and fell 9-5. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Astoria/VIT hadn't done well against Bushnell-Prairie City recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rebels came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 5-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

The result came thanks to Jonah Shaw's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Astoria/VIT's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Adkins, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Colby Martin was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Astoria/VIT hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bushnell-Prairie City struck out eight times.

Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Astoria/VIT, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-17.

Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia took their victory against Astoria/VIT in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
