Volleyball Recap: Rossville's Winning Streak Snapped at Ten Games

After a string of ten wins, Rossville's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Eastern Comets by a score of 2-1. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Comets earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Blaire Wellman paced Rossville's offense, picking up seven kills. Wellman got some help from Tori Fadness and her 12 assists. Wellman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Eastern can attribute much of their success to Savannah Smith, who had 15 assists and three digs. Smith is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Rossville's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 26-3. As for Eastern, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 24-7.

Rossville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Clinton Central on the 16th. As for Eastern, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Southwood on the 18th.
