Basketball Recap: Maya Takes a Loss

Maya was the 60-46 winner over East Valley Athletes for Christ when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Maya Jaguars were dealt a 57-18 loss at the hands of the East Valley Athletes for Christ Eagles on Sunday. The Jaguars' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

East Valley Athletes for Christ's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ajay Hoover led the charge by going 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points. Ian Porter was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Maya's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for East Valley Athletes for Christ, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
