Floyd extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They fell 14-11 to the Dora Coyotes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Coyotes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-12 on Friday.
Adan Nieto led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Archer Knox was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
As for Dora, they pushed their record up to 4-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.
On Dora's side, Rylan Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Harris a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Dora is 3-1 when Harris posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ashton Davis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Dora's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Timmy Neal, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Coincidentally, Floyd and Dora will both be playing Gateway Christian the next time they take the field. The Coyotes will host the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Broncos will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
