The Stroudsburg Mountaineers will venture away from home to take on the Freedom Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Stroudsburg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Stroudsburg's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Saturday, when they got past Abington Heights' usually-dominant pitching crew. The Mountaineers came out on top against the Comets by a score of 11-8.
Stroudsburg let Paul Maccarrone and Anthony Knight run wild. Maccarrone went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Knight went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Knight has posted since back in April of 2024. Will Fergusson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Stroudsburg lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Freedom came out on top against Northampton on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Konkrete Kids a 10-0 shutout. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Freedom also got a great performance from Matt Heineman as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Heineman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Santiago Rodriguez was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was John Phillips, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Stroudsburg, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Stroudsburg suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Freedom when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mountaineers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
