Softball Recap: Chilton's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Chilton dropped their record down to 14-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 4-1 to the Two Rivers Purple Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Purple Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-9 back in April.

Lauren Roehrig put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Roehrig was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Roehrig wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gwendolyn Sell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

As for Two Rivers, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Two Rivers' side, Anna Klein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chilton will venture away from home to face off against New Holstein at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Two Rivers, they will challenge Oconto Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
