Basketball Recap: Gardner-South Wilmington Takes a Loss

Gardner-South Wilmington was the 56-55 winner over Momence when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Momence Momence Athletics on Tuesday. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Momence can attribute much of their success to D'Angelo Hundley, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. Erick Castillo was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Gardner-South Wilmington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Momence, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers face off against the Donovan Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gardner-South Wilmington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Momence, they will challenge Illinois Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Momence is facing Illinois Lutheran at the right time seeing as Illinois Lutheran is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
