Baseball Game Preview: Walpole Timberwolves vs. Xaverian Brothers Hawks

The Walpole Timberwolves will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Xaverian Brothers Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The last three games Walpole has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Walpole fell victim to Weymouth and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 1-0 to the Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Xaverian Brothers faced Taunton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Hawks took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Xaverian Brothers saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Rappoli, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Walpole's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Xaverian Brothers, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
