Baseball Recap: Suffern Takes a Loss

Suffern had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-5 to make it four. They lost 9-2 to the North Rockland Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 two weeks ago.

As for North Rockland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Considering they have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For North Rockland's part, Ryan Maltbie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. Maltbie has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gabe Reyes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jacob Herrera, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Suffern will take on Tappan Zee at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Rockland, they will challenge Clarkstown North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
