Baseball Game Preview: Torrington Raiders vs. Wolcott Eagles

The Torrington Raiders will face off against the Wolcott Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Torrington has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Torrington came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Seymour, falling 12-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wolcott). Everything went their way against Holy Cross on Thursday as they made off with a 33-6 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Torrington has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Wolcott, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Torrington was able to grind out a solid victory over Wolcott in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 5-1. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
