Softball Recap: Carlsbad Comes Up Short

Carlsbad extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They lost 10-2 to the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns. Surprisingly, this marked the Lancers' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Chloe Hernandez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Rancho Buena Vista, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Rancho Buena Vista's side, Avery Griffin was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Griffin has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley McGee, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlsbad will host Westview at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they will take on Mission Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Buena Vista is facing Mission Vista at the right time seeing as Mission Vista is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
