Softball Game Preview: West Trojans vs. La Vega Pirates

The West Trojans will take on the La Vega Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

West is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Robinson on Friday. They lost 12-2 to the Rockets. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost four in a row.

West saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Mayhue, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Kyla Shoppach also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for La Vega's offense. They came up short against Clifton on Friday, falling 18-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

La Vega dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for West, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1.
