Softball Recap: Richwoods Comes Up Short

After flying high against Midwest Central/Illini Central on Monday, Richwoods came back down to earth. The Knights lost 15-7 to the Peoria Notre Dame Irish on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 back in April.

Addison Morrissey was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Morrissey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caitlin McKenna made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Richwoods has also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Peoria Notre Dame, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Richwoods is set to take on their familiar foe Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Peoria Notre Dame will square off against rival Normal West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
