4A Region III District 17 recap Oct. 23, 2012
CANNONIER FITZGERALD and TREVON PRADIA provided fans with a highlight when they connected against East View. The longest such play in 4A Region III District 17 this season, the connection resulted in 95 yards.
Georgetown extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cedar Creek, 73-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Jake Hubenak put up the best numbers through the air as Georgetown beat the Eagle. He finished with 10 completions for 139 yards and three touchdowns. Hubenak's favorite target this week was Austin Weston, who caught four passes for 85 yards.
FITZGERALD provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Manor topped East View. He completed two passes for 105 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 110 yards. FITZGERALD's favorite target this week was PRADIA, who caught one pass for 95 yards.
Jason Dean's team's Hubenak and Ryan Bedford have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hubenak has thrown for 1603 yards this season, while Bedford, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 28 catches for 524 yards. Te'Rel Simmons from Elgin leads the league in rushing with 634 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region III District 17 this week will be when Hutto takes on the Eagles. The Hippos are in sixth place, while Georgetown is in first place.
Pflugerville Connally moved up to 127 from 179 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars were able to make move up by beating the Wildcats 46-6.
