Softball Recap: Academy for Academic Excellence Has No Trouble Against Norton Science & Language Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Barstow, Academy for Academic Excellence was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 19-9 margin over the Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets. That looming 19-9 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

Emily Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Academy for Academic Excellence got a big performance out of Kayla Berg, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Victoria McGowan, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Academy for Academic Excellence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norton Science & Language Academy only posted an OBP of .390.

The victory got Academy for Academic Excellence back to even at 4-4-1. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
