Basketball Preview: Muhlenberg County vs. Apollo Eagles

Muhlenberg County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Apollo Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Muhlenberg County will be strutting in after a win while the Eagles will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Muhlenberg County didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Tigers, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory.

Meanwhile, Apollo took a serious blow against the Red Devils on Friday, falling 69-34. While losing is never fun, Apollo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Red Devils are ranked 39th).

Despite the defeat, Apollo had strong showings from Jenna Dant, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, and Jennifer Lee, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Muhlenberg County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season. As for Apollo, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Muhlenberg County was able to grind out a solid win over the Eagles in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 54-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Muhlenberg County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
