The Dana Hills Dolphins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Linfield Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dana Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Linfield Christian likes a good challenge.
Even though El Toro scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, Dana Hills still came out on top. Dana Hills enjoyed a cozy 79-65 win over El Toro. Given Dana Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while El Toro is ranked 514th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Collin Haugh was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 19 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Scodeller, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Linfield Christian over Woodcrest Christian in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Linfield Christian blew Woodcrest Christian out of the water with a 68-27 final score. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Linfield Christian has managed all season.
Linfield Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Pierce out in front who scored 16 points along with two steals. Pierce has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Xavier Cox was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Dana Hills pushed their record up to 24-4 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.2 points per game. As for Linfield Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-16.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Dana Hills have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Linfield Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
