Softball Recap: Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Drops Season-High Score on Shelbyville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Shelbyville Rams a 17-0 shutout on Wednesday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

LAYLA DEEL was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, SOPHIA MONTS was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was MACKENZIE CONDILL, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelbyville only managed three hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Shelbyville, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond will head out to take on Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shelbyville, they will welcome Nokomis at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
