Softball Game Preview: Plain Dealing Lions vs. Glenbrook Apaches

Plain Dealing is 0-3 against Glenbrook since February of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will challenge the Apaches at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Plain Dealing sitting on eight straight wins and Glenbrook on three.

While Plain Dealing didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They skirted past Mansfield 7-5.

Sophie 'Pookie' Green made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Green was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Sanaa Lyles was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Neveah Fisk, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Plain Dealing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .520 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glenbrook). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Weston a 19-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Apaches have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Plain Dealing's record now sits at 8-0. As for Glenbrook, their record is now 11-3.

Plain Dealing suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Glenbrook when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
