Basketball Recap: Canyon View Takes Down Tucson High Magnet School in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Canyon View had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers by a score of 69-62. The Jaguars are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 24 straight.

Several Badgers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryson Abalos, who posted 11 points. Thanks to that strong game, Abalos now owns an excellent 45.8% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Julio Marquez, who had 12 points.

Canyon View's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.4 points over those games. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9.

Canyon View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 89-50 loss against Millennium on the 21st. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will host Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on February 26th. Mesa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.2 points per game this season.
