Basketball Recap: West Oaks Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Patrick School

West Oaks Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Sunday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Patrick School. The West Oaks Academy Flame fell 78-71 to the Patrick School Celtics. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (64), the Flame still had to take the loss.

Several Flame players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Willie Burnett III, who posted 17 points. Burnett III's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcis Ponder, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Patrick School's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Santonio Wade, who scored 23 points. The dominant performance gave Wade a new career-high in points. Jaysean Williams was another key player, putting up 20 points.

The defeat snapped West Oaks Academy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-7 record. As for Patrick School, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
