Baseball Game Preview: Swansboro Pirates vs. Ashley Screaming Eagle

The Swansboro Pirates will face off against the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Swansboro is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. They came out on top against Laney by a score of 5-2.

Patrick Hollifield was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Hollifield wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dean Germosen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Ashley posted their biggest victory since April 30, 2024 on Friday. They put the hurt on Cleveland with a sharp 17-4 win.

The team relied heavily on Tanner Berry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Bentley, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Ashley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland only posted an OBP of .333.
