Football Recap: Douglas County Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Douglas County and Columbia pushed the score to 47-14 the last time they played Columbia, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Tigers never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Eagles are ranked 164th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

MIKE JOHNSON threw for 42 yards. Aaron Gregory was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards. On the ground, Zamarcus Lindley rushed for 44 yards and one score.

Douglas County's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Columbia, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Douglas County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-17 victory against East Coweta on the 3rd. As for Columbia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 31-0 win against South Atlanta on the 3rd.
