Regular season has ended up for seven of nation's elite teams; Chicago Public Schools tourney looms large in rankings.

MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Basketball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard

1. (No. 1 last week) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 25-0
National Player of the Year candidate Stanley Johnson scored 29 points to lead Mater Dei past St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 76-68 in a major test Friday night. The Monarchs close the regular season out this week against Servite (Anaheim) and JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano).

2. (2) Rainier Beach (Seattle), 20-0
Louisville signee Shaqquan Aaron led the way with 20 points as the Vikings embarrassed South Seattle rival Franklin (Seattle) 92-40 on Friday night. Rainier Beach jumps into Metro League tournament play this week.

3. (3) Curie (Chicago), 21-1
The Condors will meet four-time defending Class 4A state champion Simeon in the Chicago Public Schools tournament quarterfinals next Sunday. Curie knocked off Simeon once already this season in the final of December's Pontiac Holiday Classic.

4. (4) Montverde Academy (Fla.), 22-1
After a week off, the Eagles head to New Jersey for the Metro Classic this weekend. Montverde will meet Garden State powers Roselle Catholic and St. Joseph's (Metuchen) on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.



5. (5) White Station (Memphis, Tenn.), 26-1
Behind 31 points and nine rebounds from senior forward LeRon Black, the Spartans smoked Arlington 83-66 on Sunday to capture the Shelby County Interscholastic Athletic Association title. White Station will have a week off before beginning district play Feb. 17.{PAGEBREAK}

6. (6) Northside Christian Academy (Charlotte, N.C.), 24-1
The Knights finished the regular season strong, thrashing Gaston Christian (Gastonia) 116-38 on Tuesday and Westminster Catawba Christian (Rock Hill, S.C.) 132-49 on Friday. The NCISAA 2A state playoffs begin Feb. 18.

7. (7) St. John's (Washington, D.C.), 23-1
Georgetown signee Tre Campbell led the way with 24 points as the Cadets blew past Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) on Sunday, 96-74. St. John's is tied with Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.) for the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference lead. The WCAC co-leaders meet Friday night.

8. (8) Loyola (Los Angeles), 23-1
The Cubs were dealt a shocking setback last week when Arizona-bound senior point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright withdrew from the school. Without Jackson-Cartwright, Loyola beat Mission League foe Crespi (Encino) on Friday but winning section and state titles could be another matter.

9. (9) Arsenal Technical (Indianapolis), 18-2
Topping the 80-point mark for the 12th time this season, the Titans got back on track Saturday with an 83-75 win over Pike (Indianapolis).

10. (10) La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), 18-2
The Lakers beat Midwest Elite Prep of Indiana 65-57 on Friday. La Lumiere has wins over teams from 10 states this season.{PAGEBREAK}

11. (12) Providence (Jacksonville, Fla.), 23-4
Following a pair of regional tournament blowouts, the Stallions open the Class 3A state playoffs Thursday against Oak Hall (Gainesville).

12. (13) Greater Atlanta Christian (Norcross, Ga.), 25-0
GAC goes roaring into the postseason after beating Lovett (Atlanta) 68-41 and Wesleyan (Norcross) 71-29 last week.



13. (14) Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.), 26-1
After wrapping up the regular season with three wins last week, the Aztecs meet North (Phoenix) in Division I super sectional play Wednesday.

14. (15) Apple Valley (Minn.), 21-1
Since losing to No. 16 Whitney Young in mid-December, Apple Valley has taken care of business in impressive fashion. The Eagles have won 14 of 16 subsequent contests by 20 points or more and eight by 30 or more.

15. (16) Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville, Fla.), 20-3
After crushing Tampa Bay Christian on Saturday, the Apaches must quickly turn their attention to a Tuesday showdown with sophomore star Udoka Azubuike and Potter's House Christian (Jacksonville).{PAGEBREAK}

16. (17) Whitney Young (Chicago), 18-5
Like No. 3 Curie, the Dolphins will be involved in a doozy in the Chicago Public Schools quarterfinals, facing defending 3A state champion Morgan Park.

17. (18) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 30-3
The Warriors are coming off a rare weekend away from the court. Big games with Benedictine (Richmond, Va.), High Point Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.) and Quality Education (Winston-Salem, N.C.) highlight the remaining schedule.

18. (19) Huntington St. Joseph Prep (W.Va.), 22-4
Though star sophomore Thon Maker did not play, Huntington St. Joseph Prep avenged an earlier loss by crushing The Carlisle School (Martinsville, Va.) 78-36 on Wednesday. After a shaky start to the 2013-14 season, head coach Rob Fulford has righted the ship as the Irish have won nine in a row.

19. (20) Cape Henry Collegiate (Virginia Beach, Va.), 17-0
After several weather-related cancellations, the Dolphins were able to get three games in last week. Collegiate won by margins of 21, 25 and 52 points, respectively.



20. (21) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 22-4
The Gaels – winners of 13 in a row – wrap up the regular season with games against Legacy (North Las Vegas) and Centennial (Las Vegas) this week.{PAGEBREAK}

21. (22) Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), 25-4
Desert Pines (Las Vegas) and Foothill (Henderson) – a pair of quality area public school programs – stepped up to take on the Pilots over the weekend and both took it on the chin. The highlight of Findlay Prep's remaining schedule will be a trip to Toronto in early March.

22. (23) Lincoln (Brooklyn, N.Y.), 22-3
Isaiah Whitehead put up 32 points as Lincoln dropped rival Jefferson (Brooklyn) 87-65 last Thursday. The Railsplitters open the Brooklyn borough playoffs Tuesday against Brooklyn Law & Tech.

23. (24) Muskegon (Mich.), 15-0
The Big Reds continue to roll in Michigan. Junior star Deyonta Davis tallied 20 points and 10 boards in a 73-55 Saturday win over Benton Harbor.

24. (25) Carmel (Ind.), 12-1
The Greyhounds are 6-0 and allowing just 38.3 points per game since their lone setback against Indianapolis Cathedral on Jan. 15.

25. (11) Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.), 20-5
Strong consideration was given here to unbeatens like Brookfield Central (Wis.), Cardinal Hayes (Bronx, N.Y.), Potomac (Dumfries, Va.) and Sagemont (Weston, Fla.). All of those teams will have the opportunity to prove their worth in the coming weeks. After falling to No. 7 St. John's last week, Paul VI bounced back Sunday to beat 20-3 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) on the road. The Panthers have played one of the nation's toughest schedules with seven games against teams that have appeared in the Xcellent 25 this season.
