Cary Christian triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Andrew Neal

Recap: Cary Christian Knights vs. Calvary Day School Cougars

The Cary Christian Knights put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over Calvary Day School. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Cary Christian has scored all year.

It was another big night for Andrew Neal, who scored 31 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Cary Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Gideon Landry, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.

Calvary Day School's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Calvert, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Calvert's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Richardson, who scored 12 points.

Cary Christian's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Calvary Day School, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Cary Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cary Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 27th. Cary Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Cary Christian is ranked 28th). Calvary Day School won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against New Garden Friends at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. New Garden Friends has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 211 points over their last three matches.
