Basketball Game Preview: Biggersville Lions vs. Okolona Chieftains

The Biggersville Lions will face off against the Okolona Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Biggersville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging an 82-30 win over Jumpertown. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-14.

Meanwhile, Okolona had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Hawks, posting a 63-29 victory. Given the Chieftains' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Hawks are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Biggersville pushed their record up to 25-5 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points over those games. As for Okolona, their victory bumped their record up to 26-4.

Everything came up roses for Biggersville against Okolona in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as the team secured a 65-30 win. In that contest, Biggersville amassed a halftime lead of 45-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
